The Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire of 1911– 146 people died most of whom were young, immigrant women and  was a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. The tragedy led to increased union organizing, labor law reform, and fire safety regulations that continue to protect us.

During the Commemoration there was strong commitment by union and New York City council members in attendences to pass the Safety Bill 1447 in the New York City Council, which has divided construction, and the NYC's real estate industry

Each year, hundreds of people come together to remember the lives of these workers who died in this tragic fire, and loss of life that could have been prevented and to recommit to the fight for worker safety and justice.
