Details: #XRUniversities held a rally today on the steps of 52 Chambers Street in Manhattan 
there mission that extends beyond holding individual institutions accountable, they focus on 
the education system as a whole. 

We often see that education is all too focused on profits and prestige; indoctrinating individuals 
into a colonial, neoliberal, and extractivist system that ignores both human and planetary limits. 

We have three demands; our education system must:

-Decarbonize (Divest from fossil fuels and commit research and personnel to renewable energy innovations)

-Decolonize (Recognize that the system is inherently tied to colonialism and respect other forms of knowledge)

-Democratize (Form People's Assemblies, democratically elected boards, student input groups, etc.)

The action is coordinated in solidarity with various student occupations around the world!
but they welcome any group or individual interested in the three demands and overall message, no need to currently be a student!

Workers, Unions and City Council members come together to remember the 146 workers who lost there lives 106 years ago in the Shirtwaist Factory Triangle Fire Today March 24th, 2017 Marked the 106th Commemoration of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire at the corner of Washington Place and Greene Street, NYC were 146 workers had to jump from the windows of the building to escaped the fire and smoke, leading to there deaths on the streets below-Credit: Mark Apollo/Hashtag Occupy Media The Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire of 1911– 146 people died most of whom were young, immigrant women and  was a pivotal moment in our nation’s history.
