#XRUniversities #OccupyEducation - #Decolonize #Decarbonize #Democratize Details: #XRUniversities held a rally today on the steps of 52 Chambers Street in Manhattan there mission that extends beyond holding individual institutions accountable, they focus on the education system as a whole. We often see that education is all too focused on profits and prestige; indoctrinating individuals into a colonial, neoliberal, and extractivist system that ignores both human and planetary limits. We have three demands; our education system must: -Decarbonize (Divest from fossil fuels and commit research and personnel to renewable energy innovations) -Decolonize (Recognize that the system is inherently tied to colonialism and respect other forms of knowledge) -Democratize (Form People's Assemblies, democratically elected boards, student input groups, etc.) The action is coordinated in solidarity with various student occupations around the world! but they welcome any grou...
